Stopped by STS Arms in Oregon yesterday for one of the company's specialties (DR), dropping off guns (ARs and other guns) for cover at the NDIA Joint Armaments Conference, Exhibition and Firing Demonstration 2012 (Ciracote) in Seattle. . STS coats the inside with Micro Slick, a permanent dry lubricant ceramic coating that significantly reduces or even eliminates the need for wet lubrication. STS owner Ron Downs then took us to the range for a little shootout with some of his guns, including an in-house (STS Arms) silenced tactical AR SBR (short barreled rifle) chambered in 300 AAC Blackout. -Auto .22 LR AR and the pièce de résistance, a select-fire/full-auto Glock 22 (G22) submachine gun equipped with a prototype STS Arms push-button type fire selector similar to the FSSG fire selector system previously written by DR. The STS weapon backplate selector switch appears to function identically to the FSSG, with minor differences in physical appearance and materials. The STS weapon backplate on the Glock pistol appears to be all steel, while the FSSG, originally from Venezuela by Mr. Jorge A. Invented by Leon and US patent number US5705763, it contains an impact resistant graphite polymer. How the STS backplane circumvents or circumvents FSSG's patent is anyone's guess. It sure is fun though. Actually, it's a blast, pardon the pun. So how does it work? For normal semi-automatic fire, make sure the push button type selector button is pushed to the left so that it protrudes from the left edge and lies flat on the right side. To start Rock n' Roll/Full Auto, press the button from left to right so that the button moves to the right. Similar to the FSSG, the STS Arms Replacement Glock Backplate Selector Switch replaces the standard Glock backplate and is interchangeable from one Glock to another. The first video below (top video) is my second attempt at shooting the G22 pistol fully automatic with the STS Arms backplate after I got used to its trigger features.
