(DR) stopped by STS Arms in Oregon yesterday on our way to the 2012 NDIA Joint Armaments Conference, Exhibition & Fire Demonstration in Seattle to assemble weapons (ARs and other weapons) with Cerakote ceramic coating, one of the company's specialties. . The STS coats the interior with Micro Slick, a dry ceramic that greatly reduces or even eliminates the need for wet lubrication. STS owner - auto .22 LR AR and the piece de resistance, a Glock 22 (G22) selective/full auto machine gun equipped with an STS Arms back plate/rear fire selector switch reminiscent of the -FSSG Fire Selector System that DR wrote a long time ago. In fact, the STS Arms backplate selector switch appears to function identically to the FSSG, differing only slightly in physical appearance and materials. The STS Arms backplate for Glock pistols appears to be all-metal, while the FSSG, originally developed by Mr. Jorge A. Leon of Venezuela, who also holds US Patent No. US5705763 contains a high strength graphite polymer. How the STS backplate will get around the FSSG patent, or if it will, is anyone's guess. It's really fun though. It's actually stupid, pardon the pun. So how does it work? For normal auto ignition, make sure the push button type switch is pushed all the way to the left to extend to the left and engage to the right. To switch to rock n' roll / full-auto, simply press the button from left to right so that the button is on the right. Like the FSSG, the STS Arms Glock Backplate Switch replaces the standard Glock backplate and can easily be switched from one Glock to another.
